The 3am problem
You have tried everything else
The white noise. The blackout blind. The swaddle, the room thermometer, the third change of pyjamas. Most nurseries are set up beautifully.
And the one surface a baby spends up to sixteen hours a day pressed against is still ordinary cotton.
- FrictionShort, rough fibres tug at delicate cheeks and pull at first hair all night long.
- HeatCotton holds warmth, which is why so many babies wake up damp at the back of the head.
- MoistureAbsorbent fibres draw moisture out of new skin that needs to keep it.
Why silk, and why this silk
Built for delicate sleepers
Cotton is spun from thousands of short, rough fibres. Mulberry silk is one long, smooth filament — which is why it behaves so differently against new skin and first hair.

The one thing we changed
One long, smooth filament
Made from 100% pure highest grade (6A) long fibre 22 momme mulberry silk. Where cotton is thousands of short fibres with rough ends, silk is a single continuous strand.
That is the whole difference. It feels like water, and it behaves nothing like the sheet in the cot right now.
- 22 mommeDense enough to drape and last, light enough to breathe all night.
- 6A long fibreThe longest, most uniform filaments, so the surface stays smooth wash after wash.
- Nothing addedNo coatings, no optical brighteners, no harsh dyes near your baby's face.

An honest comparison
Sleepy Teddy vs ordinary cotton
Compare us honestly and the choice makes itself.
Why we started
A mum on a mission
Founder Jolina created Sleepy Teddy after watching her newborn's hair wear away on standard cotton sheets. She could not find a silk sheet made properly for British cots, so she commissioned one: gentle enough for a baby, and honest about exactly what is in it.
If it is not good enough for my own daughter's cot, it does not go in the shop.

Before you buy
The questions parents ask most
Still not sure which size you need? Message our UK team
Which size do I need?
Measure your mattress and match it to the size in the buy box above. Bedside cribs and bassinets take the 83 × 53 cm sheet, standard cots take 120 × 60 cm, and cot beds take 140 × 70 cm. If you are between sizes, message us before you order.
Is silk safe for a baby?
Our silk is OEKO-TEX certified, which means it has been independently tested and found free from a long list of harmful substances. The sheet is fitted with elasticated edges so it stays put on the mattress, and it should be used the same way you would use any fitted sheet, following your cot manufacturer's safer-sleep guidance.
How do I wash it?
Cold machine wash at 30°C in a delicates bag, on a gentle cycle, with a mild detergent and no bleach or fabric softener. Hang to dry away from direct heat. Silk is far less fragile than its reputation suggests — ours go through the machine every week.
Will it really help with hair?
Silk is a low-friction surface, so hair slides across it instead of catching and rubbing the way it does on cotton. That is why silk pillowcases are so widely used by adults. For babies, who turn their heads constantly against the same patch of sheet, less friction means less pulling on very fine new hair.
Won't silk make my baby too hot?
The opposite. Silk is naturally temperature regulating: it moves heat away in summer and holds a gentle warmth in winter, without the clammy feeling cotton can leave behind. It is one of the main reasons parents tell us their little one stops waking up damp.
What if it is not right?
